The Birkenstock Company
Experience Built Over Two and a Half Centuries
In the fashion industry where trends fade as quickly as they emerge Birkenstock stands as a true exception. The company’s historical roots date back to 1774, and the brand’s identity is built on the strong foundations established more than two and a half centuries ago.
This long-standing heritage is what continues to define Birkenstock’s commitment to quality, durability, and timeless design.
A Leading International Brand with German RootsBirkenstock is a globally recognized brand and one of the most well-known German brands worldwide. With nearly 6,200 employees, this tradition-rich company is the largest employer in the German footwear industry.
Birkenstock follows a vertically integrated production strategy, maintaining full control over key stages of manufacturing. All Birkenstock footbeds are produced in Germany, and more than 95% of all products are manufactured at the brand’s own production facilities located in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine–Westphalia, Hesse, Saxony, and Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania.
This strong commitment to local production ensures consistent quality, responsible manufacturing practices, and the preservation of traditional craftsmanship.

Birkenstock is synonymous with exceptional comfort, outstanding functionality, and uncompromising quality. This high level of quality is achieved through the careful selection of premium raw materials sourced from sustainable resources, processed under the demanding standards that define our brand.
Our products are designed to promote well-being. They feel good in the truest sense of the word. They also stand apart as a thoughtful alternative to the flood of low-quality products that dominate much of today’s consumer-driven marketplace.
Birkenstock represents a commitment to durability, responsibility, and footwear that truly makes a difference both for the people who wear it and for the world around them.
